Discovery flew more missions than any other orbiter in the shuttle fleet — the workhorse that carried a space telescope into orbit and returned crews home for almost three decades. This build recreates it in over 900 pieces and 35.9 cm of white and black fuselage. The cargo bay doors open onto a payload bay with a working telescope release mechanism, the cockpit and crew hatch open, and the aerodynamic surfaces respond — a movable horizontal tail and an adjustable vertical rudder. A collector's display plaque presents it the way a museum would.
