Two engines, one boiler, and a reputation that never shrank.

The largest steam locomotives ever put into regular service were articulated — two full sets of driving wheels hinged under a single enormous boiler, built to drag freight over mountain grades no ordinary engine could face. This build recreates that giant in 1,186 pieces and 52.7 cm of black boiler and tender, riding its own track section. Coupling rods link the twin driver groups, ladders climb the smokebox front, and the coal tender follows behind on multi-axle bogies. A separate station platform vignette — clock post, bench and steps — completes the scene.
